We are a family owned company based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Sisters Kailey and Karissa founded iksplor with their mom, and biggest cheerleader, Barb. Our childhood was built on adventure and time spent outdoors as a family. We created iksplor so that other parents could give the same experiences to their kids, too, just more easily than before. So we designed go-to merino wool adventure clothing and essentials from a brand they trust.
This isn’t your Nanna’s wool. Our merino wool is superfine at 18.9 microns, meaning it is a perfect next-to-skin fibre for year-round use. It’s great for baby’s sensitive skin – research has even shown it to help reduce the redness of skin conditions like eczema. It's also the perfect fibre to help little ones regulate their temperature, which babies have a tough time doing! Research has also shown that babies swaddled in merino settle more quickly and fall asleep faster. YES, you read that right!
Babies are prone to skin irritations, which can be caused by the harmful chemicals found in some children's clothing. That’s why we test our fabric every time we order it to ensure it is free of any unsnuggly bits. Studies have even shown that merino wool is less irritating to infants skin than cotton.
Yes! The wool we purchase is ZQ accredited merino wool from New Zealand, the world’s leading accreditation for ethical wool. ZQ is sustainable and traceable back to sheep that have been treated awesomely! ZQ merino growers believe in farming sustainably, which reflects our own commitment as a children’s brand to our children and the generations that follow them. ZQ Merino is audited by a third party to ensure the highest standards in fibre quality, animal welfare and health, social responsibility, and care for the environment and program management. You can learn all about ZQ merino here - https://www.discoverzq.com/.
Our merino is knit and dyed in a bluesign accredited manufacturing plant. This accreditation system ensures our fabric not only meets the highest standards for quality, but also for the health and safety of the environment during manufacturing as well as the workers who are producing our goods.
Iksplor’s cutting and sewing takes place right here in the USA by a woman-owned manufacturing plant. Our manufacturer is a leader and advocate for bringing apparel production back to the USA.
Quality is incredibly important to us. We started by sourcing the highest quality fibre in the world, ZQ accredited merino from New Zealand, and we’ve been conscious about choosing incredible partners for every step of our supply chain. At the end of the day, we are a small team with little ones as well and we know mistakes can happen. Please reach out to us if you receive a damaged or defective item at email@example.com or 1-866-457-7567.
We know online shopping for kids can be hard! Our products have been designed to provide a little more length than your average garment so that your quickly-growing little one can get at least 6 months out of our pieces. Please take a look at our size charts available on each of our product pages for more information. But, let's face it, getting your kids to stay still for a measuring tape is asking a lot. Just say hello on the chat bot or give us a call if you have any questions at 1-866-457-7567.
In an effort to bring the magical properties of wool to kids everywhere we are partnering with organizations and hospitals to donate our premium swaddle blankets and layers. We also offer the Iksplor More Send Back Initiative, which helps take the responsibility of disposing of your children’s clothing off your chest by sending it back to us to be re-used or composted. In return you will receive 15% off your next order.
One of the wonderful things about our merino is it is durable! if you mess up and accidentally wash it on a hot cycle or it goes through the dryer...don't panic! Our pieces do great if they accidentally go through the "I CAN"T DO ANOTHER LOAD OF LAUNDRY" mode! Another great thing is merino's anti-bacterial qualities mean you don't have to wash your garments unless they are spilled on. Many times you can simply spot treat the garment and voila! Good as new. This is never the case with our kids though and we wash our garments A LOT. To get the most life out of your merino here are the settings we recommend -
HAND OR MACHINE WASH GENTLE CYCLE - 40'C
DO NOT USE BLEACH
MAY TUMBLE DRY LOW 40 C
RECOMMEND DO NOT DRY CLEAN
USE APPROVED WOOL DETERGENT
WASH WITH LIKE COLORS
DO NOT WRING
DO NOT LEAVE WET
And if that feels like a lot of rules, we agree. Do your best, but we think you will be pleasantly surprised by the life you can get out of these pieces even when you don't quite follow the rules 🤪
