The baselayer legging gets the cold months. These get everything else.
The Kids Merino Adventure Short is built from 100% merino wool in a relaxed cut designed for warm weather days. Merino regulates temperature naturally so kids stay comfortable through changing conditions — cool enough for hot trails, warm enough for breezy evenings at camp. The built-in UPF 50 means sun protection on covered skin without sunscreen.
On cooler mornings or at altitude they layer cleanly under rain pants or a shell without adding bulk. And like everything in the Iksplor range, the odour resistance means they go from trail to campfire to sleeping bag without needing a wash in between.
Room to grow is built in. Each size covers a two-year range, so you get at least one full season of proper fit and usually more before sizing up.
Material: 100% Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) Merino Wool
Weight: 230 gsm, 18.9 micron – lightweight, breathable, and perfect for year-round use
Craftsmanship:
Thoughtfully crafted in Vietnam by skilled artisans.

How to Care:
Machine Wash: Use the gentle cycle with cool water and a mild or wool-specific detergent.
Drying: Lay flat to dry to preserve shape and softness. Alternatively, tumble dry on low with similar items.
Refreshing Without Washing: Merino wool naturally resists odors and bacteria, so it doesn't require frequent washing. Simply hang your merino outside for a few hours to restore freshness.
Preventing Moth Holes: Store your merino garments in a clean, dry space. Use airtight storage bags or bins to block moth access. Add natural moth repellents, such as cedar blocks or lavender sachets, to your storage area. Wash or air out your garments periodically to remove odors or residues that may attract moths.
Adventure Ready: Once clean and dry, your merino is ready for all your journeys, big or small!

what parents are saying
good to know
Is this really 100% merino wool?
Yes, 100% Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified merino wool. No blends, no synthetic fillers, just the real thing.
Won't wool feel itchy on my kid's skin?
Not with this merino. Superfine fibers are soft enough for sensitive skin, with none of the itch people associate with old wool sweaters.
Can these be worn on their own?
Yes, these are thick enough to wear on their own or be layered under a jogger or ski pant.
How often do they need washing?
Rarely. Merino wool naturally resists odor, so kids can wear them several times before a wash.
What happens when my kid outgrows them? Can I resell them?
Yes. Send them back through Iksplor More for cash or credit, giving them a second life with another adventurer.

My daughter is 8 and the 8-9 fit great with room to grow. We also like that they aren’t biker shorts. They are loose and comfortable. We love that the material is a little thicker than other brands we have tried. They dry fast which make them great for summer adventures! Ended up getting two more colors!

I bought these a size up so they would fit more like regular shorts instead of bike shorts for my son, and they're perfect. I roll the waist up once and they stay on no problem with so much room to grow. We just got back from a 4 day camping trip in the mountains with these. From 90°F hikes, to hidden ponds, to 4 hour car rides, to the campfire, and to the aquarium they were comfy, cozy, sturdy, odor-free, and so quick-drying. Truly a pair of shorts for real adventures. When my older girls grow out of their other brand merino bike shorts, I will be replacing them with Iksplor.

I got these for my kids, but decided to grab a size 12 and see if they would by chance fit me as biker shorts, if not my oldest would grow into them... y'all- I am shocked.
I am a medium in most clothes, small in most Iksplor, and these fit just fine! They obviously don't come up high waisted, but the length was perfect! I can promise I'll be hiking in these all summer. I also got a pair for my son and he loves them, not too tight of a fit. I am a women's s/m and 5'6 and weigh around 150lb.

These shortie johns are the cutest. They’re a great length and has all the goodness I’ve come to expect from iksplor. Soft on the skin, hella stretchy but never lose their shape, and durable. My kiddo loves mixing has been wearing them on backpacking trips as pjs and for general shenanigans. They’ve held up well despite her insistence on busting through blackberry brambles. My kiddo is a string bean and the shorts still fit great and true to size. But, as with all iksplor woolies, I expect she’ll be able to get at least a couple years of year due to how stretchy the wool is.

We already have a tank/short set for my daughter that we love so we had to get a pair for my sons as well! We love them for cozy casual nights and we can’t wait to try them out on some warm weather adventures in the spring and summer! We know we’re going to love them!!

We love these shorts, they’re perfect to pair with the tank top and the long sleeve wool layers as well! They’re great for cozy casual nights in! We’re from the PNW but can’t wait for Spring and summer to roll around so we can enjoy them outdoors as well, we know we’ll love them since they’re the same amazing quality as their long sleeve layers!

These shorts are fantastic! Will be taking these along for all our adventures. Love the fit and length of them! The material feels quality and durable. My kids all love wearing them as everyday shorts, as well as their top choice for when we’re exploring trails and adventuring!

These actually fit my 19 mo pretty well- she mostly wears 2t. I love that I can find options for babies, toddlers and kids that are all well made and practical for the outdoors. These are also a favorite for sleep!

My kids absolutely love these shorts and I do too. I love that they can get wet running through a shallow stream and still be comfy and quickly dry on the rest of the trail.

While they are the right length and tightness for my 10-year-old son he feels the fabric is a little too thin and revealing . My small six-year-old girl was looking for a shorter length and narrower hole similar to her legging pants that she wears every day. I really wanted something she could wear that was close fitting for hiking that wasn’t cotton or made out of plastic.

These shorts are the best! My girls will be adventuring in these all summer long. They fit true to size, and I do love the longer length. These pair really well with their tank tops! I will be buying more for sure :)

I've been looking for wool underlayers that my daughter can use as pajamas on our travels, and these are perfect! You don't always know whether lodging will run warm or cool, but I know these will help her maintain her body temperature while sleeping. She says they are comfortable and fit great! The 12-year sizing was perfect for my tall 11-year-old. I'm really excited to continue testing them out on our upcoming safari trip this summer!

I love these to use as shorts or even as a base layer for mid temp days. Perfect for camping and hiking.
