details
Best For: Hiking in the heat, layering under a bunting in the snow, camping trips, or everyday wear. This is the one piece every outdoor family reaches for first.
Warmth & Weight: Lightweight 200 GSM, 100% merino wool that regulates temperature naturally, so your baby stays comfortable hiking in the heat or bundled up in the snow.
Sun Protection: Naturally UPF 50, plus fold-over hand mitts that shield little fingers from sun and wind, so you can skip the sunscreen and the mittens.
Softness: Superfine merino is soft enough for sensitive skin. No itch, no irritation, just all-day comfort.
Convenience: A two-way zipper means fast changes from either end, no fully undressing your baby on a cold trailhead. Generous sizing means you'll get more seasons out of each size than you'd expect. Wear it as a base layer under a down suit on ski days, or on its own for mild-weather hikes and camping trips.
Sustainable Style: Made from renewable, biodegradable, 100% RWS merino wool that's machine washable, and one of our most requested pieces on Iksplor More when your little one outgrows it.

what parents are saying
good to know
Is this really 100% merino wool?
Yes, 100% Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified merino wool. No blends, no synthetic fillers, just the real thing.
Won't wool feel itchy or irritate my baby's sensitive skin?
Not with this merino. Superfine merino fibers are soft enough for sensitive newborn skin, with none of the itch people associate with old-school wool sweaters.
How does the two-way zipper actually help?
It opens from the top or the bottom, so you can change a diaper without fully undressing your baby, even at 2am or on a cold trailhead.
Will this actually work in every season, or is it really just for summer?
Genuinely both. It's lightweight enough for summer heat on its own, and warm enough layered under a bunting or down suit in the snow. One piece, every season.
How generous is the sizing, really?
These run large on purpose. Size true to size, or even down if you want a snugger fit right away, since there's plenty of room built in for your baby to grow into it.
What happens when my baby outgrows it? Can I resell it?
Yes. Send it back through Iksplor More for cash or credit when your little one sizes up, giving it a second life with another adventurer.
Customer Reviews
Overall rating: 4.9 / 5 from 128 reviews.
I ordered the size 6-12 for my 2 month old because size 3-6 was preorder only and he's very tall. There's plenty of room to grow, but the sleeves cuffed so well, and it wasn't terribly baggy, so it's working perfect for us! Took this on a 6 day camping trip full of hiking in Acadia. Between sweaty babywearing and the dense coastal Maine fog, I was a little worried about my 2 month old getting damp and cold, but this kept him warm and dried so quickly. It's easy to spot clean, and leaky diaper stains sunned out within a couple hours. This pic is of the little man with his Mimi at the beach. I love that I can cover his hands and feet so paired with a hat he was completely protected from the sun!
We love our adventure zippy! We’ve been wearing ours all summer for camping and hiking. I love how it keeps our baby warm at night and protected by the sun during the day. Cannot recommend this item enough!
The perfect layer for an adventure baby-she wore it three days in a row, kept her cool on hot hikes, warm during the thunderstorms and didn’t smell at all! It’s the outfit we grab first. Worth every penny!
We live in Alaska and my baby boy has been wearing this onesie in negative temperatures as a base layer and it has kept him very warm and comfortable I couldn’t recommend it enough!
I absolutely LOVE the adventure zippy. My little girl wore this probably 5days a week for her first 1.5yrs of life. She wore it from learning to roll, to crawling, scooting, and walking. All indoor and outdoor. It has been great for hiking, camping, day trips, base layer, mid layer, and so much more. And it held up SO WELL. 🙌 This is what I gift all my friends at their baby showers. This little zippy suit is the only piece of clothing you’ll need for your little adventurer.
The sizes run big and they stretch, so keep that in mind when ordering.
Got this adventure zippy for my one year old and loving it this winter. Keeps his temperature regulated and a great base layer. Can’t wait to get the next “kid” size up.

Thank you so much for the fantastic review!
One of my absolute favorite pieces from Iksplor! We’ve had this in every size from newborn through 18–24 months, and our girls wear it year-round. It layers perfectly over the baselayer set or works great on its own. Cozy, practical for easy diaper changes, and adds the perfect bit of warmth. I recommend this layer to everyone!
Love the zippy! We had one for our daughter when she was a newborn and now in the 3-6 month size. The material is thick and soft. At 7.5 months, 20 lbs and 27.5” she is still wearing it!

Thank you so much for sharing! We're so happy you love your zippy!
We love our merino wool zippy! We recently wore it while we went on a whale watching tour in the San Juan Islands. It kept baby perfectly regulated and it’s so soft!

Alejandra! This is so dang cute. I am sharing to Instagram if that is ok with you. Can you send us your Instagram handle? Cute Cute Cute!!!
We absolutely LOVE this onesie! I have been using this for my baby as a base layer all winter and it's worked perfectly. It's soft, warm, breathable, and comfortable. My baby has sensitive skin and the wool has been great for her! She typically wears a size 12-18 and this 12-24 size fits great and she still has room to grow. Yay!

Thank you for the kind words and making our week!
I absolutely love the Explorer Baby Adventure Zippy! I got the 12-24M size for my 11-month-old (who is in the 98th percentile for weight) and it fits him perfectly. I originally bought the two-piece set, but it was a little snug on his tummy. Luckily, I resold it overnight on the IKSPLOR Secondhand Shop and used the money to get the zipper onesie instead. The quality is amazing, the colors are beautiful, and it’s cozy, warm and breathable.

Oh my goodness, we love hearing this! I am so glad you were able to sell the item and get exactly what you both wanted/needed! Thank you so much for sharing!
This merino wool zippy is so perfect for a base layer in the mountains or as a single layer in 45-65 degree weather. We went for a beautiful hike in Sedona and my baby was 100% happy laying in the red dirt! My baby is in the ~20th percentile and the 0-3 month has fit from 2 months and is still fitting at 3 months. I think it will fit him for at least another month and then I have the 3-6 month lined up!
For future iterations of the design, it would be great to have fold over foot cuffs and a lighter weave for the wool. This one is thick and warm, but I’d love a full coverage lightweight version for the summer to keep my baby safe from the sun!

This is great feedback Lauren! Thank you so much!
We live in Utah and love it to throw under snow gear! Our little guy drools a lot still so it is perfect for quick drying and keeping him warm and cozy! It fits well and is so soft and comfortable for him.
Store owner replied:
What a cute picture! Way to ride that bike little guy! Thanks for the awesome review as well, we also love how dry these layers keep our littles. Happy adventuring!
I love these Zippies for all types of adventures, indoor or outside. They keep her warm and dry effectively which is great when you have a baby spitting milk everywhere. I would highly recommend.

These photos are so sweet, thank you!
This zippy has been our trustiest piece of adventure gear. Baby has worn it from 2mo on and it's still going strong at 9mo. From California backcountry to Alaskan glaciers, from long haul road trips to backyard campouts, from sick snuggly days to setting his first climbing route on the stairs, this zippy has been everywhere with him! He has probably worn it more days than he hasn't and although it's showing signs of wear (a couple holes) it has been the toughest base layer any of my kids have had. Will definitely buy again.
We bought the 3-6 month and was able to use it until we finally upped to the 12-24 month size. We love having it for our family trips outdoors. The material and fit is great for adventuring, and the sizing was great that it lasted a long time for us!
Store owner replied:
We love how much use you were able to get out of this! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
We have been using the 0-3 month adventure zippy for my 9 week old since our first camping trip at 4 weeks! The fabric is great, stretchy and soft and warm and perfect for our temperamental PNW weather. I already bought a 3-6 and am looking forward to him growing into these and getting lots of outdoors time!
PROs: soft, durable, colorful, stretchy and high high quality! These will last way past the age/size that I ordered them in.
CONs: sizes are pretty off from other clothing; the 12-24mo 2 piece is pictured on my 4.5mo old 17lb baby… laying next to the 12-24mo zip suit!
Now keep in mind the two piece is definitely big on the baby right now, but the one piece literally fits my tall three year old child and won’t comfortably fit the baby for probably another year. Just something to keep in mind!

What great photos! Thank you so much for sharing this smile and kind words. They lit us up!
I took my three month old camping in 43 degree nights, 60ish high days. We LOVED his gear we bought from you! The onesie and beanie kept him warm but comfy under his sleeping bag and then under his bunting during the day. We will definitely be purchasing larger sizes in the future and I would not have been comfortable to go camping so early if we didn’t have this base layer.
I love these merinos! I feel confident taking my baby out on hikes in Colorado weather. Colorado can be hot and then cold in a matter of minutes, so this is perfect for us! I didn’t feel confident taking him outside regularly for long periods of time until I had this. The only time I don’t use it is if it’s blazing hot, then I’ll do a lighter bamboo onesie. But we will continue to size up as baby grows!
We bought this for our 3 month old for the Idaho winters and it was amazing as a base layer under a bunting or an around the house one-piece! Our son loved this and it ran a bit large so it lasted until he was almost 12 months old! Will definitely buy again and wish they made this in other colors like the 2 piece set.

Thank you so much for the great review!! More colors coming this Fall!
Bought this to take our 3 month old on a couple ski trips and her first night camping. I love that it's a little long, so it buys us more time to grow out of it. I also love the quality of the wool and the double zippers for easy diaper changes!
This base layer has been amazing so far! We have been having lots of winter adventures and our little dude is never cold. I love the quality and fit, especially because it seems like it’ll fit for longer than most. I ordered two sizes and plan to continue sizing up as he grows.

Oh my, this photo and review is so sweet and encouraging to us to hear!!! Thank you for sharing.
This is one of my all-time favorite toddler clothing items. It's a lovely weight, soft, easy to wash, and SO versatile. I like it best as winter PJs and as cold-ocean beach wear. On the California coastline in the winter, when surfers are wearing wetsuits and there's not a swimsuit in sight on the beach, my toddler loves hurling herself into the waves wearing her Iksplor merinos, and I feel confident letting her do it. I would love more color options and larger sizes for this zippy!
This onesie was PERFECT for our Oregon winter and everyday snuggles! We had two in pretty much constant rotation. We’ll size up with Iksplor for years to come.
I bought both the purple and grey zippy and LOVE them! We are a big hiking family and love to get the baby out and explore everything they can. I love that I don’t have to obsess over what they should wear to keep them warm, cool and protected from the sun. I’ve used this as a base layer when it’s been cold and full body coverage in the sun. You can’t go wrong! Excellent quality! Not a stitch coming out or anything. I will definitely be purchasing again once they grow out of them. Sizes are very large but happy to roll up sleeves to give lots of time for them to grow into it.
The adventure zippy is AMAZING! My 10 month old has been wearing his since about 6 months old. I sized up (12m) and this definitely runs big. We’ve been rolling the arms and legs to make it work. But he LOVEs it. It’s perfect for around the house, bedtime, camping, travel days, and more. The only thing that would make it any better would be the feet having the same fold over capabilities as the hands!
I bought the Adventure Onesie for my 7 month old granddaughter and my daughter then bought it for my 2 year old grandson! We both just love them. They both love them! They wear them at least 5 days a week and they each only have one. They onesies keep both kid's so comfortable and keep their temperatures regulated. They get their best naps and night's sleep in them. They wash and wear beautifully. And because they are merino wool they only need to be washed every few weeks! We wash them in Kookaburra wool wash. We also have 5 of the Adventure Blankets and the kids ask for them! 2 stay in the car and 2 are for our 2 year old to sleep with. He loves to be covered up in his blanket. We have the teal and the dark blue and the colors are beautiful! The prices are very fair for such wonderful, long-lasting products.
Thank you for such high quality products!
