details
Ask any Iksplor family and they'll tell you the same thing: once their kids are in these, getting them out is the hard part.
The Kids Merino Iksplorer Long Sleeve is built on 100% merino wool, the fabric that regulates temperature naturally, wicks moisture before kids notice it, and resists odors through days of wear. It works as a base layer under ski gear on a -14° day, as a standalone top at forest school in the autumn, as sun protection on a summer trail, and as PJ's when the day is done.
The thumb holes are a genuine favourite. Kids love them, and parents love that sleeves actually stay put under jackets and gloves. The extra-long fit is intentional: generous enough to tuck in properly and sized so most families get a full season and a half before needing to size up.
Pairs perfectly with the Kids Merino Iksplorer Legging for a complete base layer set or wear solo as an everyday top in the warmer months.

what parents are saying
good to know
Is this really 100% merino wool?
Yes, 100% Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified merino wool. No blends, no synthetic fillers, just the real thing.
Won't wool feel itchy on my kid's skin?
Not with this merino. Superfine fibers are soft enough for sensitive skin, with none of the itch people associate with old wool sweaters.
Is this only good for winter, or can my kid wear it in summer too?
Both. Merino regulates temperature naturally, so it works on cold mountain mornings and warm summer nights alike. Plenty of Iksplor kids wear theirs as pajamas all year round.
Can these go under snow pants as a ski base layer?
Yes, that's exactly what it's built for. Soft, non-bulky, and warm enough to wear on its own or layered under a jacket on the mountain.
How should these fit? True to size, or room to grow?
True to size, though our top run a little long in length, so there's a bit of extra room to grow into through a growth spurt.
What happens when my kid outgrows them? Can I resell them?
Yes. Send them back through Iksplor More for cash or credit, giving them a second life with another adventurer.

My daughter wore this all day at Silver Dollar City! She got wet, the weather got warm (probably near 80°F), and the sun shone all day. She said if she did it all again, she'd still wear the shirt! She kept the sleeves down, didn't get too hot, and didn't burn. She just wishes I'd bought her the shirt in purple. 🤣🤷♀️

Oh my goodness, how adorable. Thank you so much for the share and we get it girl, we can never choose just one color either :) Also, big fans of the pink and purple!
My 4 year old only wears wool so this has been a lifesaver!!! I can get out the door and enjoy the outdoors :-) he is wearing the baselayer and midlayer on the rock photo! Pretty cold weather
We purchased a size 2T for the top & bottoms. Our kiddo is a year old. They keep her so warm on our hiking adventures under her bunting & I wish we would’ve purchased them a little sooner. Looking forward to testing them out for our future backpacking trips! I love that the top has thumb holes for keeping it on while tossing a jacket over her!

What a cute photo! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback and review! We can't wait for you guys to get out hiking and all the adventures.
This baselayer set is so top notch -- my girl has lived in Iksplor since she was a baby; now we're loving the toddler shirt and pant set. Its so nice to be able to go from pajamas to outdoor layer and back to nap and bed when needed on trips!! You can definitely tell this brand was built by moms.

Thank you for such a thoughtful review. We’re so honored to be part of your daughter’s everyday adventures, and we love hearing that the versatility is doing exactly what it’s meant to do.
Love love love! These keep my boys SO warm at forest school in the winter months! And enough for them to strip down to when the sun comes out but it’s still cold! The perfect under layer. And the 4T fits my 3 yr old and the 5t fits my 5 year old perfect (both with a little room to grow!)
Fiona was so excited about the bright pink color and they kept her cozy and warm her first couple days skiing this year! Photos are pre ski day and apres at crested butte.
Whether it’s an 80-degree summer day or a -14° winter storm, our girls are always rocking their Iksplor baselayer top and leggings. I bought our first set for my oldest back in 2021, and they’re still going strong! We have them in so many sizes and colors because they get worn all the time—under dresses as leggings, as ski baselayers, for sun protection—you name it. Huge bonus: they can be washed and dried! Every outdoor kid needs a set of Iksplor baselayers.
We've been using Iksplor baselayers on adventures since our little girl was 3 months old, and I couldn't recommend anything better. From the next-to-skin fit, to the fun, vibrant colors, they're just the best! Thank you for making beautiful, functional clothing.
Store owner replied:
Thank you so much Rachel! We're so thrilled to outfit your beautiful family!
We love our new cozy base layers, they really are easy to clean (necessary with a toddler), I love that they keep my girl warm, and I also love that they’re 100% merino wool!
Store owner replied:
So wonderful to hear thank you Catalina!
We love our Iksplor baselayers and hat! Her first set was when she was newborn and we just upgraded to the 4T. She is able to wear it in the summer to protect from the sun as well as in the winter to keep her warm. Everytime she grows out, we will be purchasing a new one :)

Beautiful and functional - my kids always pack this into their backpacks as their most important piece of clothing for any of our adventures. It’s the absolute best ❤️

Thank you so much for the kind words! We love hearing this and seeing your beautiful photos Marketa :)
We love our Iksplore sets so much!! My daughter is small for her age, so we finally just sized up to 3T at 2.5 years old (23lbs). This will be our third set and she picks pink every time. We’ve more than got our money and use out of each set. I just started to notice she snagged the butt of the 2Ts, but it was after heavyyy use! I know they have patches you can buy too. Anyways, worth the buy and we’ve been very happy with them, whether we’re hiking, backpacking, skiing, or just exploring outside!

These photos are TOOO cute! Thank you so much for the kind words.
Goodness my daughter looks edible in her little Iksplor outfit! Excellent fit, perfect base layer to keep her warm at night and while she's running around during the day! We love it so much!

Oh my goodness, the cuteness!!!!!
The best baselayers ever! They keep my boys comfy and warm/cool depending on the weather. We use them for skiing, camping, hiking during the entire year. My boys love the color options too!
We love our Iksplor merino wool! Not only do we have them for our kids but I got myself a pair this summer and absolutely love them. My toddler loves the finger holes and I love that I can wrap it over my baby's hand in the winter time. We wear these year round- every ski day, time in the snow, camping... They are the best. Also make for a great baby gift for your adventurous friends/family members who are expecting.
Unfortunately my toddler cannot tell me if she loves it or not but these feel very soft comfortable, lots of room for growth. She seems pleanty comfortable in the pack, down by the river and at home when she wears the iksplorer set.
Warm enough for blue sky cross country days with just a vest. But the real reason I love it and am buying the next size up (storing this size for the little brother!) is that we had a week of no power or heat after a storm in January. My 7 year old wore these essentially 24 hours for a week. He stayed warm, never itchy, and by the end there was still hardly any odor despite cross country skiing for miles several of those days!! Impressive.
My daughter does not fight getting into these long Johns! Great base layer for under her snowpants and jacket when we play in temps under 20 degrees F. They are worn in the house before/after outdoor adventures. She did get a small tear in one knee which I repaired easily; I think overall they’re a standard legging thickness and she fell multiple times before they ripped. They do not give her a rash (unlike other clothes) and are moveable/breathable!
I got this Kid Iksplorer set for my grandson, and it's clear we need a second set! This is the first layer on ski days, and the wool is so soft and comfy that he often wears these as pjs. Photo: Waking in his Iksplorer set at Odell Lake Lodge, Oregon Cascades, to fresh new snow falling--and calling us to the slopes.

Such sweet photos. Thank you for the awesome review!
Both my sons love their baselayer sets and the thumb holes are so awesome to have as well!! My younger one is obsessed with Sonic so he wants to wear blue all.the.time! That’s also a feature I love, is that they don’t need laundering after each wear! Lifetime customer! Please consider making underwear as well!
My son (21 months) loves his wool base layers. He refused to let me take it off when he got sick. Day one at the zoo. Two days later, he was still in his shirt, and I finally convinced him to take it off.
It was cozy and comforting for him.
I love the set for warmth, sun protection, layering, ease of cleaning, and multiple wears. I'm not too fond of laundry. But with wool, it keeps me ahead.
Our little guy has been rocking these layers on countless adventures...in the desert, up mountains, at home. They are durable, but when the inevitable hole shows up because your toddler feels the need to climb every rock on their own, they have patches that are easy to use too! Love our Iksplor wool layers so so much!
My kiddos godmother introduced us to Iksplor and I’m so grateful! Every morning, no matter the weather, my 2 year old reads books and then goes to play in the backyard and will be outside for the rest of the day. We live in Central Oregon and often get all the elements in one day. These base layer sets have been game changer, I can finally stop packing multiple changes of clothes cause these not only keep him warm but they also dry incredibly fast which is perfect for all of our river playing. He plays hard and is very hard on his clothing but these have held up all fall/winter/spring and we will still be able to use them for his sister next year. Also Iksplor is the only brand that actually fits true to size for him and last, he grew 4 inches and was still fitting comfortably. I recommend Iksplor to absolutely every family.
It's hard to see the top in the picture, but my daughter loves her kids iksplorer long sleeve. She wears it all the time, especially we play out in the snow!
These baselayers are perfect for my autistic daughter who has sensory issues with tags and seams! They are soft and the flat seams don’t bother her. They are her new favorite lounge wear and it’s rare for me to see her out of them when she’s at home.
Store owner replied:
Hi Leah,
We are very sorry to see this happen. We are sending you some patches now.

My daughter wears “woolies” everyday under her clothes. She wanted bright yellow, which is how we ended up buying Ikaplor! She loves the fact that the sleeves come over her fingers. The Iksplor set is now her favorite under layer to wear. The pants are big enough she’ll definitely get a second season out of them!
